What is Valverdi Fossil Coke
Valverdi Indoor-Out is a range of porcelain floor tiles intended to blur the line between indoor and outdoor living spaces. Made of hardwearing porcelain, Fossil Coke mimics the look of dark natural stone similar to dark slate flooring. We often describe Fossil Coke as being black in colour but it is more like a very dark almost anthracite colour. This flooring provides a striking look that fits seamlessly into both traditional and modern spaces.
The surface of the tiles has a textured finish designed to mimic the riven feel of real natural stone. The body of the tiles is the same colour as the surface, which means that the edges can be profiled, for example bull nosing, if required. Fossil Coke tiles also come with rectified edges, which gives more precise measurements and allows you to install them with a narrower grout joint - externally a wider joint is still needed so check with your installer.

- Slip resistant surfaces - both the internal and external tiles have great slip resistance ratings, with the outdoor tiles featuring an enhanced textured surface for added grip
- Fade resistant & colourfast - your tiles will look stunning for years to come thanks to the fade resistant and colourfast material
- No moss & mould - unlike other outdoor materials like stone and wooden decking, porcelain is resistant to moss and mould growth so your patio won't become slippery in wet weather
How to install Fossil porcelain tiles
Internally, Fossil Coke tiles can be installed in the same way as all other floor tiles. Use a suitable tile adhesive for your substrate and a decoupling layer if necessary. The internal tiles can also be used on walls, check that your walls can hold the weight of these heavy tiles and use a tile backer board if not.
Externally there are a few installation options. A solid base is the most popular installation method for external porcelain tiles - using a tile adhesive to stick them down. You can also use a wet bed method with a suitable primer on the underside of the tiles. If you are installing onto a balcony you can use a pedestal system like Eterno Ivica which leaves the joints open and a void underneath the tiles. To reduce materials you can also opt for the PorcelQuick Adped system, which is a fixed cement pedestal method.
